Middle School Students

Breakthrough Atlanta is a six-year, year-round academically intense, study skills-based, enrichment program that works with rising seventh graders until they graduate from High School.

During the first two years, most students begin with our six-week summer session - which introduces them to Breakthrough Atlanta and the rigorous, yet fun curriculum.

During the school years, students continue to grow with our Saturday School Year Program (SYP) which is held at our host school, The Lovett School.

Faculty and Tutors

Each summer and school year, Breakthrough Atlanta recruits talented high school and college students to teach and tutor our students. These young people come from a variety of backgrounds, and represent diverse experiences and areas of interest. They are the leaders of the program who plan and conduct lessons, lead activities, and serve as role models and mentors to Breakthrough Atlanta students.

Many Breakthrough Atlanta faculty and volunteers were students in the program themselves! They bring their own understanding of Breakthrough Atlanta Spirit to the program that helps them relate to their students on an even more effective level.

Breakthrough Atlanta faculty and tutors are leaders in their schools and communities; their achievements serve as a guide to younger students who strive for success.

Testimonial

"Two years ago, Breakthrough became a very intricate component in helping me to navigate the college application process. I attended a Workshop with admissions representatives from Cornell University, Columbia University, Bryn Mawr College, and Barnard College; which were all my top choices. Attending the session twice, through the intimate conversations with the representatives I was able to learn lots more about the institutions and develop very close relationships with each of the representatives."
