Teachers

Breakthrough Atlanta teacher interns come from all different backgrounds, interests and college majors, but they are united in their commitment to help our middle school students get on a solid track to college.

Breakthrough Atlanta employs a team of outstanding professional educators, called Mentor Teachers, who train and support young teachers, and who ensure that classes are productive and meaningful for students and teachers.

Our class sizes are very small—with only 10 to 15 students—which means teacher interns can make real connections with the children they teach. Breakthrough teachers are positive role models, mentors, leaders and learners. They demonstrate by example that "it's cool to be smart."s

Breakthrough is one of the best pre-professional teacher training programs in the nation because teachers are immersed quickly into classrooms regardless of their experience. They learn from experience what works and what doesn't as a teacher.

The teaching experience at Breakthrough is hard work, but the rewards are endless. Breakthrough students admire their teachers and often form long-term bonds with them. Breakthrough teachers become heroes and role models for students who want to go to college.
