Why Atlanta?
An ever-growing metropolis with more than five million people, Atlanta is one of the most vibrant and thriving cities in America. It's the birthplace of the civil rights movement and is a center for business, sports, research, education, and the cultural arts. It's also one of the world's most diverse cities, attracting residents from all over the globe.

Atlanta is a city of eclectic neighborhoods, from shopping and nightlife in upscale Buckhead, trendy Virginia Highlands, or Bohemian Little Five Points to cultural meccas in midtown, downtown, and Decatur. For Dining, try authentic Asian or Mexican along Buford Highway, or traditional pub grub in Decatur, Indian in midtown, Ethiopian near Emory, or Italian on Cheshire Bridge, or traditional southern barbeque pretty much anywhere. Don't forget a burger or chilidog at the world-famous Varsity! It's a city where you're sure to find something for everyone.
Science buffs can peer into the heavens at the largest telescope in the world dedicated to education, or touch an Apollo space capsule at Fernbank Science Center. Like the water? Raft down the Chattahoochee River, or go boating at Lake Lanier. For history, the Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial is a must. Or visit the largest collection of Egyptian mummies outside of Egypt at Emory's Carlos Museum.
If live music, improv comedy, opera, dance, or theatre is your thing, Atlanta is the place for you. Atlanta's seasonal festivals are not to be missed-including one of the world's largest literary and book festivals, and too arts festivals to count!
As a learning center, Atlanta is home to the Georgia Institute of Technology (home of the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets!), the Atlanta University Center, Emory University, and Georgia State University, as well as numerous smaller and community colleges. Plus, you're only an hour away from the University of Georgia and the Bulldogs.
